The idea & development

We've always enjoyed playing bocce or boules. However, the fact that the balls are made of cheap, flimsy plastic or metal and are almost always produced in China somewhat spoiled the fun. That's how the idea was born: to develop an even more fun outdoor throwing game made entirely of wood and to produce it in Germany. After months of tinkering, our new favorite game is finally finished.

The game

JF LOOP is a completely new game concept from a father-son team. It's a reimagined take on bocce and boules. The rules are exciting yet simple, with the goal of working as a team to throw their rings as close as possible to the target ball. The first team to collect all their rings wins. But the excitement continues: steal rings from your opponent or remove them from the round by throwing them around the target ball or onto an opponent's ring!

100% plastic-free

Practical and compact in a bag

Consistent

We handle both development and production in Germany. JF LOOP is made exclusively from regional ash wood, and we ship completely plastic-free. Our packaging consists of a practical bag made from organic and Oeko-Tex certified cotton, perfect for storage.

Handmade in Germany with Hohenfried

JF LOOP rings are manufactured entirely in Germany in collaboration between our father-son workshop and Hohenfried eV, a home for people with disabilities. People with disabilities work in a traditional craft setting, supported by special templates and attentive staff. This ensures that every ring is crafted to the highest quality standards.

Instructions and such.

German instructions in text form

Each game comes with a nice instruction booklet, which is also explained with pictures. Here it is in text form, in case you've lost yours or don't have it with you.

1. Goal & Preparation

Preparation : Form 2 teams, each team receives all rings of one color.

Objective : The objective of the game is to win 2 rounds (or alternatively more).

Overview : You win a round if you have managed to discard all of your own rings.

The ring that is closest to the target ball at the end of a throwing round is placed down.

When throwing, one pays attention to the occurrence of events .

2nd round of play

Throwing the target ball : The target ball is thrown once at the beginning of a round of play.

In the first round, the youngest player throws the target ball. In subsequent rounds, the losing team from the previous round throws the target ball. (It's advisable not to throw the target ball too far at the beginning.)

Throwing rounds & end of the game round :

The game continues with as many throwing rounds as necessary until one team has collected all the rings. This team wins the round.

3rd throwing round

Procedure : Players take turns throwing all the remaining rings. Pay attention to any events after each throw.

End : Once all rings have been thrown, the throwing round is over. The ring closest to the target ball is set aside. (This ring is placed to the side and will not be used in the next throwing round.) Important: Rings even slightly covered by the opponent are not counted.

Who throws the first ring? If the target ball has just been thrown, the team that didn't throw it starts. In subsequent rounds, the team with the most remaining rings starts. If there's an equal number of remaining rings, the team that last threw a ring starts.

4. Events

LOP : The ring just thrown is only slightly above an opponent's ring:

The opponent must immediately pick up one of their discarded rings (if any) and use it directly in the current throwing round.

LOOP : The ring that was just thrown is now around the target ball:

The opponent must immediately retrieve ALL of their discarded rings and use them directly in the current throwing round.

Throwing rounds & end of the game round : There are so many throwing rounds until one team has been able to put down all of the rings. This team wins the game round.

3. Throwing round
